Members who passed by the Art Gallery at Kent Ridge Guild House in the first quarter of 2020 would have noticed the eye-catching art collection, Restrengthening Dwarfism, by Finnish artist Ms Laura Vuorio. The brightly coloured paintings that lined the hallways offered viewers an insight into the artist’s life and journey towards accepting herself and her insecurities towards her own physical attributes and the public.
Ms Vuorio was also a guest at the latest Art Dialogue, moderated by NUSS Paint-A-Portrait panel member Mr Low Sze Wee. In sharing with members her inspiration and thought process behind her collection, Ms Vuorio explained, “By exploring three different viewpoints — the personal, the public and the intimate — I use this exhibition as a way of finding peace within my circumstances.”
