Back for the second year running, the much-anticipated NUSS Water Carnival 2023 made quite a splash on 6 August 2023, as families and friends gathered at Mabel and Soon Siew Kwa Swimming Complex, Kent Ridge Guild House, for an engaging and fun-filled afternoon of pool games. With a fully subscribed attendance weeks prior, the event boasted a vibrant turnout of approximately 50 participants, all eager to partake in a day of team-building and friendly competition.
Upon registration, the participants were divided equally into three teams, comprising both adults and children. From 2pm to 5pm, laughter and cheers echoed throughout the venue as the teams dove into a series of spirited pool games.
The event kicked off with the “Build a Dingy” challenge, where the participants put their resourcefulness and teamwork to the test. Following that was the exciting “Baywatch” race, in which the adults engaged in a serious arm workout while attempting to “rescue” the eagerly waiting kids at the opposite end of the pool. Their task involved tossing a float across the water and skillfully pulling the kids back to their side.
Number recognition and reflexes were then tested at the exhilarating “Numbers Crunch” game, followed by the classic favourite, “Captain’s Ball”.
No carnival would be complete without the inclusion of delightful finger food, including ice cream, popcorn, hotdogs, and nachos. Complemented with refreshing iced milo and water, both adults and children indulged eagerly in these treats following the exhilarating games.
The event would be remembered fondly not only for its adrenaline-pumping games, but the sense of togetherness it fostered. Families teamed up, competing side by side, and forging stronger bonds through shared moments of triumph and laughter. The day culminated with the prize giving ceremony, where the teams were each awarded with first, second and third place medals. To sweeten the experience, each team was also presented with a generous box of treats, brimming with candies, chocolates, and snacks to share.
