Throughout December, the Cultural Sections of NUSS have been bustling with lively gatherings and vibrant celebrations to commemorate the Christmas season. Read on for a recap of how these close-knit communities embraced the joyous spirit of the season during this period.
Ushering in the season with the NUSS Choir
Kicking off the festive fervour, the NUSS Choir put together a captivating performance on the evening of 3 December 2023, enthralling an audience comprising 120 adults and children with a medley of timeless Christmas carols. Their harmonious renditions and sharing of the beloved Christmas carol, ‘Silent Night’, was the perfect opener for NUSS’ annual Christmas Light-Up, infusing the atmosphere with warmth and cheer.
Later in the month, the Choir enchanted the shoppers at Marina Square with their melodic voices through a delightful rendition of well-loved Christmas classics such as “Joy to the World”, “Jingle Bell Rock”, “Silent Night”, and more on 21 December 2023, adding a touch of Christmas magic to the air.
United through the shared love of music
NUSS has shared a longstanding friendship with Serangoon Gardens Country Club (SGCC), and on 8 December, the two organisations joined forces for a spectacular musical extravaganza. Titled ‘’White Christmas Band Showcase Dinner & Dance’’, guests from both organisations were treated to display of musical talents at SGCC’s elegant ballroom.
Live music by the bands – K-Spin and The Musical Expression, from NUSS and SGCC respectively, kept guests grooving all night long while enjoying the delectable dinner and fantastic company.
Festive spin with a local flair
The DramaWorks Section bid adieu to the year with a cosy yet vibrant Christmas-themed Slam on 13 December 2023, embracing the festive cheer with a Singaporean flair. Held at the function rooms of Kent Ridge Guild House, the members presented a variety of dramatic performances, songs, heart-warming carols and poetry.
DanceSport’s Enchanting Christmas Ball
Capping off the month-long celebrations, the DanceSport Section pulled out all the stops at their “Enchanting Christmas Ball” on 23 December 2023, their last Dinner & Dance event for the year. Decked out in their best outfits, the members and guests relished an evening of revelry, lively dancing and indulgent food at Della & Seng Gee Guild Hall, Kent Ridge Guild House.
Through these events, NUSS’ Cultural Sections truly embraced the spirit of the season – a time for togetherness, celebration, and making lasting memories. As the year concludes, these heart-warming gatherings not only showcase the diversity and vibrancy within NUSS’ cultural community but also underscore the enduring connections that transcend the festive season.
