A Day of Friendly Competition and Joyful Camaraderie at the President & Ang Pow Challenge 2024

In a cherished annual tradition, the NUSS President & Ang Pow Challenge 2024 took place amidst the serene greens of Marina Bay Golf Course on 21 February. This prestigious event serves as a highlight in the Golf Section’s calendar, alongside the esteemed Golf Annual usually held in July, which will be part of the Society’s 70th Anniversary celebrations this year. Drawing the participation of 100 passionate golfers,with all eyes set on the coveted podium, the event unfolded with much fervour. Morning games filled the air with anticipation as competitors vied for both the Golf Competition and the Golf Novelty prizes.

As the sun descended, guests and golf enthusiasts gathered at the Suntec City Guild House for the President & Ang Pow Challenge Dinner. Following a warm welcome by Deputy Golf Convenor, Mr Chor Chong Leen, NUSS President, Mr Edward S Tay acknowledged the dedication and hard work of the section in his opening address. “With a membership count of 699, surpassing even the combined total of the next two sections, we owe our success to the tireless efforts and leadership of Joseph, alongside his predecessors Eddie, Chok Ming, and Siva.”

Marking a poignant moment, this edition of the tournament bid farewell to the Marina Bay Golf Course with Mr Phua Tin Cock emerging victorious as the overall champion. The inaugural Hole in One Winner was Mr Lee Yann Dar. Beyond the thrill of competition, the evening resonated with camaraderie and joy, highlighted by a delightful lucky draw and the traditional Lo Hei segment, symbolising abundance and prosperity for all.
