On a memorable evening, NUSS welcomed 200 new members into its fold, marking a significant milestone in our community’s continued growth. The event was graced by esteemed guests, including NUS Pro-Chancellors Mr Chan Sek Keong and Mr Poád Mattar, Chairman of the NUS Board of Trustees Mr Hsieh Fu Hua, NUSS Honorary Member Professor Wang Gungwu, and NUSS Past Presidents Mr Lim Soo Hwee, Mr Lai Kim Seng, Mr David Ho, and Mr Eddie Lee.
The evening held dual significance. Firstly, it was a great honour for NUSS to confer the Honorary Membership to Mr Hsieh Fu Hua. Secondly, the event warmly welcomed our new members, who are now part of Singapore’s largest graduate alumni society. The event was a testament to the enduring ties between NUSS and NUS, emphasising our shared mission to foster intellectual growth and community engagement.

The conferment of the Honorary Membership is a prestigious tradition reserved for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and service to NUSS and the broader community. Past honourees include respected figures such as former President Dr Tony Tan, the late Minister Mentor Mr Lee Kuan Yew, Emeritus Senior Minister Mr Goh Chok Tong, and Professor Tan Eng Chye, President of NUS.
This year, NUSS proudly welcomed Mr Hsieh Fu Hua to the esteemed list of Honorary Members. As Chairman of the NUS Board of Trustees, his visionary leadership and dedication have significantly enhanced the university’s impact. Beyond his professional achievements, Mr Hsieh is a passionate advocate for philanthropy, education, and the arts—values that align closely with NUSS’ mission. The evening also served as a welcome to the newest members of the NUSS family. With over 15,000 members, NUSS offers an enriching environment dedicated to lifelong learning and social growth. New members gain access to a host of facilities across three Guild Houses—Kent Ridge, Suntec City, and Mandalay Road—offering opportunities for dining, networking, and a diverse range of events and activities.
