The NUSS Choir proudly held its annual concert at the Kent Ridge Guild House, celebrating NUSS’ 70th Anniversary with “Echoes of Home,” a vibrant program showcasing Singapore’s rich cultural tapestry. Guests from Dover Park Hospice, one of NUSS’ adopted charities, were also at the concert and enjoyed it immensely.
The concert featured performances like “Singapura,” celebrating national pride, “Burung Kakak Tua,” a lively Indonesian folk song, and a nostalgic “1990s TV Medley,” reflecting Singapore’s cultural identity as a crossroads of cultures.
Founded in 1998, the NUSS Choir has grown to 65 members, achieving numerous accolades, including gold and silver standards at international festivals. The choir contributes actively to the local scene, performing at events like the Voices of Singapore Festival and fostering youth choral singing through initiatives like the Singathon.
Under Music Director Adyll Hardy since 2013, the choir has promoted Singaporean compositions and adapted to challenges, maintaining its commitment to music through virtual performances with support from Choir Convenor Dr Fong Poh Him.
After this concert, the choir will embark on a music tour to Xiamen and Suzhou. Mrs Goh Chok Tong, Patron of the NUSS Choir, commended their growth and dedication. The NUSS Choir extends heartfelt thanks to all contributors and supporters who made this celebration possible.
