The National University of Singapore Society (NUSS) concluded its 70th anniversary celebrations with a spectacular grand finale on NUSS Day, held on 30 November at Kent Ridge Guild House. Our Guest-of-Honour, Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat, kicked off the day of celebration, marking the culmination of a year-long celebration themed “Enduring Ties and Building Legacies.” The day brought together members, families, and friends in a vibrant celebration filled with fun, food, and festive cheer.
Families enjoyed bonding through a variety of exciting activities. Children raced through paddle boats and took on the obstacle pool course, while carnival games such as Lobster Pot and King of Hammer kept the competitive spirit alive. Stage games and spellbinding magic shows captivated audiences, creating unforgettable memories for attendees of all ages.
The celebration also featured a feast of culinary delights, including satay, laksa, shawarma, and dim sum, satisfying every palate. Live entertainment kept the energy high as guests soaked in the festive atmosphere throughout the day. The excitement peaked with a lucky draw announcement, as members eagerly awaited the chance to win fabulous prizes.
As the evening set in, the NUSS Choir enchanted the crowd with a heart-warming carolling performance, spreading holiday cheer with timeless Christmas melodies. The event concluded with a dazzling Christmas Light-Up ceremony, illuminating the Guild House. It was the perfect finale to NUSS’ milestone Platinum Jubilee celebrations, honouring its enduring legacy and vibrant community spirit.

The 70th Anniversary celebration began with a Tree Planting Day on 27 January 2024, at Kent Ridge Guild House, supporting the alma mater’s Plant-It-Forward Challenge and raising $70,000 for the NUSS 70th Anniversary Bursary. This initiative highlights the philanthropy of NUSS members while promoting equal opportunities and environmental conservation.
NUSS’ 70th Anniversary Charity Golf
The NUSS 70th Anniversary Charity Golf event, held on 23 August 2024 at Sentosa Golf Club, raised an impressive $777,000 for the NUSS Bursary Fund, which supports deserving students through the NUS Enhanced Financial Aid Scheme. The event, graced by Minister Chan Chun Sing, underscored NUSS’ strong commitment to education and philanthropy.
NUSS 70th Anniversary Lecture
On 18 September 2024, approximately 300 NUSS members and guests gathered at Kent Ridge Guild House for the NUSS 70th Anniversary Lecture, featuring YAB Dato’ Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Menteri Besar of Johor. His keynote, titled “Johor & Singapore: Celebrating Our Shared History, Redefining Our Common Future,” highlighted the enduring ties between Singapore and Johor while outlining his vision for the Maju Johor 2030 initiative.

On 7 November 2024, NUSS hosted former President Mdm Halimah Yacob for the NUSS

international law, fostering a cohesive multi-racial society, and strengthening the labour
