Honouring the Legacy of NUSS Past President Mr Tan Siang Chik

The NUSS community remembers Mr Tan Siang Chik for his long-standing contributions and dedication. A member since 1980, he served on the Management Committee from 1982 and was President from 1994 to 1998. During his tenure, NUSS saw key developments, including the establishment of Orchard Guild House and the expansion of Kent Ridge Guild House in 1993.

Mr Tan was instrumental in upgrading the early rudimentary systems of accounting and internal controls, playing a critical role in the eventual computerisation of these functions, and strengthening NUSS’ governance. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he was honoured as an Outstanding Member in 2010, a testament to his enduring commitment and influence within NUSS. Even after his presidency, Mr Tan remained active in the Finance Sub-Committee and the Disciplinary Sub-Committee, offering his expertise and guidance.

His commitment to NUSS spanned over four decades, leaving a lasting mark on the Society and shaping the foundation of what NUSS is today. Mr Tan passed away on 2 March 2025, but his contributions continue to be remembered.
