Coping with the Tiger Year

Master Lynn Yap – Singapore’s Feng Shui Queen — sheds light on developments expected in the Year of the Tiger.

As 2022 is a Water Tiger Year, it can be considered a “Transitional” or “Ren Yin” year. The third animal of the 12 animal signs in the Chinese zodiac, the Tiger is ferocious and intelligent, prone to scratch and jump so there could be unexpected changes in the coming months.

“Flexibility is the keyword in the Year of the Tiger,” said Master Lynn Yap. She was addressing about 50 NUSS members and guests who attended ‘Predictions 2022’ on the evening of 20 January at the Della & Seng Gee Guild Hall. She explained that the first six months of the Tiger Year has yang water while the latter half has yang wood. Since in the natural state, wood floats on water, the water element above the wood element signifies that it will be an unbalanced year. Hence, you can expect to see several economic and political disruptions around the world.

General predictions

She reckons gold prices would remain stable and the US dollar will be looking good. However, overall the economy would not fare well as oil prices would fall and and the stock market may suffer a drastic fall. In addition, there is the possibility of a terrorist attack, war, riots and natural disasters such as tsunamis, earthquakes and volcano eruptions. The good news is that there could be the discovery of a medical cure for a serious ailment. She also envisaged that the first half is not good for restaurant businesses and the electronics sector while the second half would not fare well for the property and construction business.

Deposit money to grow money

Master Lynn pointed out that many Chinese will celebrate Chinese New Year on 1st February 2022. This is based on the lunar calendar. The solar calendar has 4th February 2022 as the start of the season of Spring (Li Chun), and the beginning of a Chinese New Year. So it really depends on which Chinese New Year calendar you follow.
This year, 4th February falls on a Friday so she suggests going to the bank to deposit cash. Money deposited on this day will grow. She said she has been advising her clients to do this since 2005 and it has made many of them multi-millionaires. Do wear a red shirt or blouse to deposit the cash or cheque into your personal and company’s bank accounts. She stressed it is not necessary to wait for a special time to bank in the money but wearing red is a must.

Animal signs that will do well in 2022

Those born in the years of the Rooster, Goat, Horse, Rabbit, Pig and Dog will have a good year ahead. For example, the presence of a lucky star brings money luck to Roosters and there is a possibility of a promotion. There is also Heaven’s Luck so buying lottery tickets could bring a windfall. However, do remember to also donate money to increase your luck. Your health is good this year so keep up your brisk walking, gym sessions or cycling. If you among the lazy ones, then go for body or foot massages as these also have health benefits.

Not a great year for others

Those born in the years of the Tiger and Monkey are in for a challenging year. Even those whose bazi (a form of life reading based on the birthdate, time and country of birth) has the tiger or monkey in the hour pillar (3am till 5am) or (3pm to 5pm) could be in for a tough time. To improve your luck, avoid attending weddings, funerals, birthday parties and baby showers. If you have to attend do wear a red undergarment and do not eat the cakes and red eggs.

Those with the Monkey sign are advised to carry a 916 gold pendant kirin or pi xiu for the whole year. If you belong to the signs that indicate ‘No Heaven’s Luck’, avoid gambling as chances of winning are slim. You may also lose money to scammers or to friends or relatives. To ward off bad luck, Master Lynn advised to make a generous donation after 3 March.

Other tips to note

Master Lynn then fielded questions mostly centred on health and wealth. In answer to one query, she explained that fund transfers from one of your bank accounts to another of your accounts on 4 February would be taking money out from an account, which will defeat the purpose. The whole objective is to deposit money on that auspicious day. The bigger the amount deposited, the more your wealth will grow, and she stressed to the attendees to wear a red shirt or blouse when doing so.
