A day of sporting fun and games

After a long hiatus due to the pandemic restrictions, Kent Ridge Guild House (KRGH) was buzzing with activities on 15 April 2023 as NUSS’ S&R Section members gathered for the highly anticipated Inter-Section Games that afternoon. In the spirit of good sportsmanship and to create an opportunity for Inter-Section bonding, participants took part in various games held at KRGH’s facilities and SuperBowl Mount Faber at SAFRA.

The camaraderie was evident as members gamely pitted their skills against another at each game and enthusiastically cheered fellow players on.

The day’s festivities culminated with an extravagant buffet spread and awards presentation at S&R Night, held at KRGH’s Della & Seng Gee Guild Hall. The attendees also had the opportunity to snag some F&B vouchers, including the top prize valued at $300, during the lucky draw segment.

The Pickleball Section was awarded the ‘Most Promising Section of the Year 2022’, as they started in 2020 and rapidly expanded within two years, while the Golf Section bagged the well-deserved title of ‘Section of the Year 2022’, for their effort and strong participation in the NUSS Golf Charity back in September 2022.

“We are immensely proud with the prestigious recognition bestowed upon us at the NUSS Sports & Recreation Night. The NUSS Pickleball (PB) Section has flourished since its inception in April 2021, with its membership skyrocketing from a humble 40 to an impressive count of over 100 in less than two years,” said Mr Benny Gan, PB Section convenor on winning the ‘Most Promising Section of the Year 2022’.

“During the Inter-Section Games, our NUSS PB Section showcased its remarkable skills and secured the championship title in the Social Mahjong games, claimed both the champion and second runner-up positions in the Badminton games, and achieved the first runner-up position in the Balut games. It was an incredibly rewarding day and night for the NUSS PB Section,” he added.

Section members spent the evening catching up with old mates over food and drink, and celebrating the vibrant S&R community in NUSS.
