On 15 January 2025, student leaders from the NUS Students’ Union (NUSSU) and NUS Sports Leaders gathered at NUSS for an evening of engagement with the alumni community. The event, attended by the NUSS Management Committee and Sports & Recreation Sub-Committee convenors, underscored the strong partnership between NUSS and NUS, providing a platform for meaningful connections and future collaboration.
In attendance were NUSS President Mr Tong Hsien-Hui, NUSS Honorary Treasurer Ms Catherina Tan, and NUSS Membership Sub-Committee Chairperson Mr Daniel Chia, along with members of the NUSSU EXCO and NUS Sports Leaders. In his opening address, Mr Tong reaffirmed NUSS’ commitment to supporting student leaders, highlighting key initiatives such as the NUSS-NUS Mentorship Programme, which has benefitted over 2,400 students since its inception in 2012. He also emphasised NUSS’ annual contribution of $250,000 to the NUS Alumni Bursary Fund, which has grown to $31 million and continues to provide vital financial aid to NUS students in need.
Beyond the formalities, the dinner fostered meaningful interactions between student leaders and NUSS members, encouraging dialogue on potential collaborations, upcoming initiatives and friendly sports games. The event reinforced NUSS’ role as a bridge between students and alumni, ensuring that leadership development and networking extend beyond university life.
