The Ministerial Dialogue on 2 April 2025 welcomed a strong turnout, as around 260 NUSS members and guests gathered to hear from Ms Indranee Rajah, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Finance and National Development. She shared insights on key issues surrounding Budget 2025. Also in attendance were members from the Cornell Club of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University Alumni Association (NTUAA), and Singapore Management University Alumni Association (SMUAA).
The evening opened with a Budget 2025 overview by Mr Yeo You Liang from the Ministry of Finance, highlighting efforts to address cost pressures, boost growth, upskill workers, and advance sustainability and inclusivity.
NUSS President Mr Tong Hsien-Hui highlighted the Budget’s alignment with NUSS’ mission and emphasised its focus on families, workplace flexibility, and economic resilience as vital to Singapore’s future.
Mr Soh Yi Da, Chairperson of the Intellectual Pursuit Sub-Committee, moderated the Q&A, where Minister Indranee addressed questions on trade tensions, SME support, workforce training, and job security. She highlighted government initiatives for individuals and businesses and closed by urging Singaporeans to work together for the nation’s future, stating, “So long as there’s a need, we will help.”
